Got questions about iD-points? Find out the answers to the most common ones here, or contact us to find out more.

01. Why is using iD-points better than giving cash bonuses?

While motivation schemes cannot be a replacement for a salary, cash is actually very ineffective as an incentive. This is because monetary rewards usually just get added to an employees pay-packet, where it goes towards paying the mortgage, food bills etc. This makes it very hard to reward a specific action, especially one that lies outside of an employee's day-to-day job description.

Also, cash has no emotional attachment in the way that products and experiences do, and is quite hard to give respectfully to non employees, such as suppliers or customers.

There are plenty more reasons why cash just doesn't cut it as an incentive - contact Martin Gittins to discuss.

02. What are the advantages of iD-points over vouchers?

Did you know that, according to a recent Guardian article, 30% of vouchers never get redeemed, because they get lost, expire, or were unwanted? That's 30% pure profit straight into the coffers of the retailers.

Store and generic vouchers are suitable for some people and some organisations, but not everyone wants to go to the shops to spend them - especially if the store is not the kind of shop they like, or is not convenient to get to.

We believe an online points system gives users the chance to buy something they want, from a wide range of products, travel breaks and experiences, from the comfort of home or their desk. Most users are comfortable with shopping online, and like the ease and convenience it offers.

Plus, our SweepBack technology allows you to recycle unspent points, maximising the value of your incentive budget.

03. Do I need special software to use iD-points?

If you're able to view this web site, you can use iD-points.

All you need is an Internet connection, a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, and an email address to receive the messages carrying your branding, that our system generates.

Running an incentive campaign is all web-based too, so there's no special software needed to be a Supervisor. All recent versions of common web browsers are supported.

04. Do my users need Internet access to use iD-points?

Users who wish to participate in your incentive activity will need Internet access.

While most users will be able to access iD-points through work or home, some users you want to involve in an incentive might not have such easy Internet access.

However, users can access their iD-points account anywhere they can get online - at an Internet café, at the library, or at a friends house.

Users will need a unique e-mail account to receive messages from us, but if they do not have an address at work or home, they can sign up for one of many free web-based e-mail programs from Yahoo, Microsoft or Google.

Our experience is that if people are winning points that they can use to buy great stuff - they'll find a way!

05. How secure is iD-points?

We take security very seriously. We have taken all reasonable steps to protect both our user's privacy and our technology from malicious activity. We are registered as a data provider under the Data Protection Act.

iD-points cannot be spent anywhere other than the iD-points shop, there are no credit card details to worry about, and users cannot change their delivery address by themselves. Additionally we monitor all transactions and account activity.

06. Can IncentiveDirect help me with tax issues?

All rewards, irrespective of their type or source, probably constitute a taxable benefit. We believe it is prudent for the source of the reward to make a provision for a possible tax liability.

Therefore, we strongly suggest that our clients consult their Finance Department regarding issues relating to tax on rewards, as every company will have its own particular tax strategy.

We have prepared a tax guide to assist our customers in dealing with taxation issues arising for incentive award schemes.

iD-points activity is easy to audit, with detailed historical information available at the click of a mouse. This makes it easy for you to determine the tax liability, and take the appropriate steps in accordance with your company's tax strategy, and your country's tax law.

07. How will IncentiveDirect support me?

IncentiveDirect has designed iD-points to be as intuitive and easy to use as is possible.

We also provide support online, by e-mail and web, and in person and by phone. It's in our interest to ensure that our clients get the maximum benefit from the system and use it to it's full capabilities.

In many cases, our clients request us to visit their offices to introduce the system to the person they have chosen to act as Supervisor - something we are more than happy to do.

Customers of iD-points enjoy a clean, straightforward user experience with clear instructions and intuitive interface. All iD-points activity, including orders, can be tracked on-line.

A sophisticated online help feature provides a clear, structured system for submitting queries.
